About the URC

National Weather Center atriumThe steel and granite “monumental staircase” and elevators in the National Weather Center connect one floor with the next through the structure’s core.

The University of Oklahoma’s Research Campus brings academic, public and private sector organizations together in a mutually beneficial collaborative environment.

Robotics to Genomics
Cutting-edge research into life science fields ranging from robotics to genomic studies takes place in the Stephenson Research and Technology Center, while at the National Weather Center OU’s academic and research programs operate alongside research, training and operational elements of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Together, these state-of-the-art facilities anchor OU’s growing research enterprise on the university’s 271-acre Research Campus.

Site Ready
OU's Research Campus has been certified by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce as Site Ready, which enables the university to capitalize on fast-moving economic opportunities and enables site selectors to readily find quality land and facilities that meet nationally established criteria in a timely fashion.

The Research Campus:

  • Facilitates basic and applied research as well as transfer to operations and commercialization
  • Provides unique educational experiences for graduate and undergraduate students
  • Promotes strategic economic development through incubation, company relocation and strategic alliances
  • Facilitates organizational teaming on and management of large projects
  • Is designated as an Enterprise Zone, which provides unique opportunities for small companies
