Stephenson Research and Technology Center
The Stephenson Research and Technology Center is a major component of a multi-phase project supporting interdisciplinary programs in biosciences, bioengineering and the OU Supercomputing Center.
The $27 million research facility, completed in 2004, includes 94,600 square feet of reconfigurable laboratory and office space to accommodate rapidly changing programs and new initiatives. It houses 251 faculty and student researchers working in a wide variety of disciplines, including chemistry, zoology, microbiology, botany and engineering.
SRTC also hosts events and meetings in the high-tech Board Room and Seminar Room.
The building was designed to give identity to individual research groups but also to provide great flexibility and stimulate cross-disciplinary interactions. Twice daily, the Stephenson Center’s popular Café DNA serves as a hub for the building’s inhabitants to relax, share ideas and conversation and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
